3. What is your Son doing in USA and how much he earns yearly?
4. How amny children you have?
5. What is your elder son doing in India.

Thats it and they gave them passport back and said that they are thinking they wont come back.

Visitor Visa Experience At The Chennai Consulate
My parents had visa experience today(4-4-2011)..It was successful. They were granted visa. Thanks to immihelp.com.I have been tracking all the experiences mentioned here for the last 1 months and that really helped to train them .I am soo happy and thought of sharing my experience too.1 month of hard work paid off!!
To give a background,I am an H1B holder and been in USA since 2008.I am the only daughter of my parents.I am married and my husband is also on H1B.My dad owns a medical shop and my mom is a housewife. My dad is good at english but not my mom so took a malayalam translator. They carried all the proof showing the business ,property owned etc but nothing had to be shown. The questions were as below

To my dad

VO:why do you want to go to us?
For tourism purpose and to visit our daughter and son in law.
VO:how long will you stay there?
3 months(same was specified in the DS-160)
VO:Are you working?
I am the proprietor of a medical shop.I have all the proof related docs with me.Shall I show them. For which she said Its ok
VO:How many children do you have?
We have only one daughter (they were little tensed here as I had shared with them some of the experiences where the visa was rejected due to only child)

To my mom

VO:what are you doing?
House wife

And thats it..She said the visa is granted and will receive the passport in a weeks time.
Thanks again to immihelp.com.Its an amazing site.

Sister-in-law's visa
Hi, My sister-in-law(husband's sister) will be applying for her visa to visit my husband and me in USA.

She will apply for her visa right after finishing her final year exam of MS in Gynaecology. My parent-in-laws have their 10year visa and both of us here are on H1 and F1.

Is it best for her to apply for visitor's visa or should we sponsor her visa. The reason we will be stating for her coming is my convocation ceremony.

What best documents can we show to prove that she will return to India? My parent-in-laws are working currently in India as doctors and own their private clinic as well. Should that be enough? Please help. Thanks!

It's a sad and depressing day ...all the vacation plans down the drain...thanks to the VO in delhi for crushing 4 innocent dreams of my daughters and my nephews of visiting Disney World this summer. I just have one question ..why is it so challenging to convince the VO when all the person is saying is the truth ? Why is it so that inspite of having all the documents they don't want to look at it ? Inspite of saying that you can reapply as soon as possible ...they want to see a change in your situation ....what does it take to get a visitor's visa to get to this Country to spend a vacation with the family ?? I am upset and depressed but I am not giving up ...I have a genuine case and I am going to wake some people up and want answers to my question ..... Also the Senator's letter was not even looked at and neither any official slip given....

Parent's visa approved
My parent's just called me with the great news.
Their B2 visa got approved an hour back at the
Chennai consulate.
Only a few questions were asked:
- Who is there in the US
- Who is there back in India
- Do you have property in India
- What was your profession

No documents were asked.

Approved B2 visa for in-laws, thanks to Immihelp!
All,
Here's the case. My husband went on H1 to USA in last week of Jan 2011. We planned to process B2 visa for in-laws so that we can visit my husband during the summer vacation of my kid for arnd 6 weeks. I am working here and we are a joint family with in-laws. I and son have H4.
Reason for mentioning the above is when I just started gathering info about sponsor from USA most of the people recommended that minimum 6 months stay is suggested before any can sponsor people. However I proceeded with the formalities and documentation as suggested in Immilhelp website. Our purpose was genuine and so I was confident.
Both MIL and FIL took ainterview at Hyd consulate today.

MIL/ FIL: Good Morning
VO: Namaste M'am, Namaste Sir
VO: How long do you want to stay in US?
MIL: 6 weeks
VO: Why do you want to go?
MIL: It has been a long time dream for us to visit USA.
VO: Do you have relatives in US?
MIL: Yes, My son stays in US
VO: What does your son do?
MIL: He is Pjt Mgr with YYYY
VO: Do you have any other children?
MIL: No he is our only child
VO: M'am are you working?
MIL: No
VO (To FIL): Sir, Are you working?
FIL: No, I retired in MMM, YYYY
VO: Were you working earlier before that?
FIL: Yes, at YYYY as YYY
VO: Thankyou, you would receive your passports within a week
MIL: Thank you, Thank you :-)
(He did not ask for documents)
-------------------------------------
1. I gave then prinouts and photocopies of all documents, as husband could not send originals due to short notice.
2. Obviously 6 months sal payslip fir hubby wasnt thr. We gave Jan payslip (appl for last week) and Feb payslip
3. Same is the case with Bank statement. However his salary in US is decent which made us think it would not be a problem
4. FIL and MIL has liquid and fixed assets here, so not an issue
5. We were / are a joint family and since I and kid are here in India, we thought it would make the case more straight-forward in terms of intent
6. Above-all: Destiny was in our favour!

I wrote all details, so that anobody who wishes to sponsor visa can actually try to do so even 6 months earlier also, as long as they are clear with purpose and intent.

Good luck and Thanks!

Visitor Visa got rejected
Thanks alot for posting your experiences. Unfortunately my parents and brother didn't get their visa approved. Both my parents are working and my brother is giving 12th board exams and were planning to visit me this summer.

VO asked my father:
1. Why do you want to go?
ans: He said for tourism and to meet my daughter.
2. WHich visa is your daughter on?
ans: H1-B
3. Which company is she working for?
ans: xyz
4. What do you do?
ans: I have a xyz business
5. How many employees do you have?
ans: xyz

VO didn't ask any questions to mother

VO then asked my brother:
1. Which school are you in?
ans: xyz
2. which standard are you in?
ans: he said 12th
He asked again and my brother replied 12th standard and then VO said sorry I cannot give you visa.

He didn't check any documents at all. Should I apply for their visas again with my brother and my parents giving the interview seperately.
