hi all, finally its my turn to post my experience, i have been following this website for almost 2months.

first off, i would like to thank almighty god and then immihelp. very good website for people like me travelling in the same boat.

im the only child and my father passed away in 98. none of my grandparents are alive. my mum tried in 2009 and 2010 for the visas but in vain. my mum is very comfy in english but just as a luck charm i took hindi this time though there werent any translators available. neways her interview was on 16th feb 2011 at 8 30 at Delhi Consulate. the interviewer was a nice person. questions were grilling :
Q1. why do u want to visit?
Q2. why did you go to UK two times?
Q3. why did you go to europe last year?
Q4. how can you afford so many trips being a teacher?
Q5. What does your son in law (my husband) do?
Q6. when did they get married?
Q7. was it love marriage?

After all this interrogation (dats what i call) he was about to return the passport but at the last minute said ok i will issue you a visa this time. dats it..

key points: my mum dint lie at all though i asked her to manipulate few things but sheez a teacher after all.. :), SO DONT LIE, the interviewer asked the most unexpected questions, SO BE READY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING, no docs were asked for..LUCK plays the trump card, trust me on that..

all the best

First of all Thanks to IMMI help for posting each and every steps in details to go thro the process of US Visas. Even though it is written giving more importance to people applying in India, It was very much helpful to prepare ourselves with the interview, documents etc.. Not much question asked. Did not even check the documents..
Only I can say to others is BE CONFIDENT... TELL THE TRUTH... BE HONEST...
Thanks IMMI again

Moms Vis arejected for the 3 rd time @ Mumbai Consulate
My mom's Visa was rejected on Feb 4th 2011 @ the mumbai consulate.
She had applied twice before back in 2005. so now after 5 yr we thought of trying it again so that she can visit us.
Its quite strange that at all 3 times they did not even take a look and the documnet sthat she was carrying nor was she asked a lot of questions.
just why do u want to visit ?? that all
After that she hears a Sorry was asked to leave.
My mom asked teh officer when is her application rejected. she was told that they think u will not return back. How a Officer decide that just based on asking one question. without seeing the papers.
when I check these websites it says that we have to show strong ties back in India.
But i don't understand how can u show all that when the officer does not see any papers.
at the time of droppping off the papers they r asked to give on the copy of their passport, confirmation page and hdfc bank receipt.

Am just so confused al to what to do. i have been here since the last 12 yrs and my mom just cannot visit me . and not to for get that i also a citizen since the past 4 yrs.
any help in this matter will be really appreciated.

SM.- AL.

B2 Visa rejected for Mom.
My moms visitor visa got rejected yesterday at the Mumbai Consulate,I need help from anyone who can tell me what can be done in the next interview,we are planing to have another interview next month.

As happens with everyone the consular didnt see any documents just returned the passport didnt even tell her that we cant issue you a visa just said please take your passport back,it had a form with reasons ticked as ties to India/Intent of travel.

My mom is a retired teacher following questions were asked:
Why do you want to go to US?
Mom-To meet my SIL & daughter & to see the US(she mentioned some tourist places)
How do you manage your expenses?
Mom-I am a pensioner & so is my husband.
Why your husband is not accompanying you?
Mom-My husband is suffering from a medical condition not fit to travel (mom offered to show the medical certificate) he said not needed.
Finished the interveiw by saying you can take back your passport.

Mom had mentioned self as the sponsor & she has property, fixed deposits, investments in India,& a good bank balance but he didnt ask her for any documents or anything about her .Besides that she has a big family in India with 4 grand children,my dad is primarily depenedent on her for support in her absence my sisters will take care & she can only stay in US for 4weeks max as all sisters are working.
The points that we feel may have caused this is the self sponsorship maybe the guy assumed that pensioners dont have enough funds, also she is actively on the board of directors of one of te renown school & part time author for a leading publisher which she didnt discuss ,in the form it only gives certain options so we selected retired.
She has taken care of my father from the past 20yrs & is genuinely planing to come only to visit us & see this country, how can she not have strong ties when her own husband is in India ,i really need help to prepare her better for the second interview.
Any advise & help or success after a rejection would be appreciated.

Visitor Visa approved
My Mother-in-law appeared for Visa interview on 28th Jan at Chennai Consulate. The interview was quite easy and she was asked only few questions,

1. Who is in US?
2. How many children do you have?
3. Are they married?

VO then told that the visa is approved and the passport will be couried in 3 days.

Surprisingly, VO didn't ask any document though she had all the docs in hand. Our advise would be to be prepared for the interview, have all the documents in hand, look confident, go through the experiences posted in this forum.

Thanks for this site...This has been very helpful.
