Denied Visa to wife
Had applied for a B2 visa for my wife at Mumbai. She wanted to go to US on tour a visit friends for a duration of one month. We thought that since I will be in India, my wife has a good reason to come back to India and hence were very confident for the visa. Her interview questions were as follows-
VO-Good morning mam
Wife-Good Morning
VO-Why do intend to go to USA?
Wife-For tourism purpose and sightseeing
VO-Do you know anyone in US?
Wife-I have a friend there
Vo-What does he do there?
Wife-He is working in an IT firm
Vo-Are you married?
Wife-Yes
VO-What does your husband do?
Wife-He is a businessman
Vo-What business?
Wife-Answered
Vo-His annual income?
Wife-Answered
Vo-Are u travelling alone?
Wife-Yes
VO-DO u have children?
Wife-No
VO-Have you been abroad before?
Wife-No
VO- Sorry Mam, you can't travel this time.Reason will be mentioned in the letter.
The letter was a 214B. I guess the reason was that husband being in India could not be a strong point for the applicant to return to India.Probably that is why she asked her if we had children. Also another reason being that she has never been to any foreign land and going alone to US could not be safe and secure. I guess we should be applying together because I have been to foreign countries hence the chances might just improve.

B2 Visa
We had planned a trip to the USA since our daughter was born (now 8) to Disneyland. So we did the right thing and applied for a visa for all of us. My husband was refused a visa and told to make an apppointment at the US Consulate which cost money. He made the four hour trek to sydney to apply and they told him that they had to send his application away to the DHS to seek adjudication. They said this would take upto 6 months. This was in the december and our trip was the following September. We continued calling and calling and calling and told to wait. The morning of our departure he called them up and they said " denied". How lovely..my 8 year old daughter crying, Im a mess and my mother and aunty all saying "what happened". We had to leave on our 4 week holiday without him. Its a joke. They never sent out a letter or explanation..nothing...

Our company is a BEP MEMBER.

Parents got rejected...:( :(
Hi Everyone,

Please help with any comments you on below mentioned scenario.

briefly i m here on h1b(married and have a daughter), my sister is here since 97 and still green card holder. the interview was in gujarati on 09/20/2010.

vo: didn't greet or look to my parents.

vo: how long you guys are married?
parents: answered 40+ years.

vo to my father: what are you doing?
father: answered - retired.

vo: what is your son doing?
parents: my son is working at x company as software developer.

vo: since when you met your kids?
parents: answered.

finally the interpreter (according to my mom she was polite) told my parents that neither of your kids are citizen and your son is not 'officer' so we can't issue a visa. (what this word 'officer' means? i m really surprised..!!!!)

Please put any comments you have on the above said and guide me with valid points to take care of next time. Thanks a ton in advance.

regards,
A LONELY SON

My Mother in Law US Visa got rejected
My Mother in law's US visa got rejected yesterday, tough, she had complete paperwork. Visa Interviewer asked few question like how many kids you have, where and for how long you are going and why you want to go? My Mother in-law replied to all answers saying have full family here including son, daughter, daughter in law and granddaughter, going for 4-5 months to visit my elder daughter & son in law and also visit the place. He also, asked about her husband and she mentioned clearly that she is a widow and after hearing this interviewer told her that YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED FOR US VISA and handed over a Blue booklet.

We are planning to take another interview date. Please suggest if we have to provide any additional document or shall i write a letter to US Consulate? Please suggest.

Thanks,
Vandana

Parents applied for Tourist Visa (B2) - Approved
Hi,
I need to first of all that immihelp for providigng this forum where people can share their experiences.
I feel very bad for those whose got rejected coz my in-laws faced this a few months back.
Anyways,
Here's what my parents experienced:
1. Where are you going? - Answer- City, State
2. Who lives there? - My daugher and son-in-law.
3. What does you daughter do? xxx in xxx company.
4. What is this company? - explained since the name is not very well known.
5. What does you son-in law do? - Job profile and compnay name.
6. What do you do? (First asked my dad and then my mom) the same qs.

These qs. are not new but the answers have to be specific. Try to give details as much as possible. That shows how much aware you are of your own family members.

The consulars give ample time to respond and also ask again if they didnt' hear properly.

Alos, my parents observed that husband-wife were approved over only husband or wife.

People who fumbled while answering or tried to take out cheat sheets for answering were immediately rejected.

I ensured my parents rememberd all the answers by taking their interview 3 times over the phone.

Its' worth the effort.

Good Luck to you all!!!
