Visitor Visa (In Laws) - Approved at Hyd Consulate
Hi,

First of all thanks to immihelp for the enormous detailed guidance , i have followed each and evey step and documented accordingly.

My inlaws had an appointment in Hyd Consulate (Telugu) and we prepared them for interview like anything (Asked them to by heart our address and phone numbers)

But surprisingly there were very few questions the VO has asked

To my Father in Law

1. Who are there for you at US
2. Where is you son , daughter in law working.
3. How big is your family and what they are doing.
4. Whats your occupation (Answered :- Agriculture)
5. How many acres do you have

To my mother in law

1. Who are there for you at US

Thats it (No documents were asked and the VO said your pp's will be sent in a week).

We were very much worried about as its been only 5 months we came here and my husband is still waiting for work permit . Its me who has sponsored my in laws and thought they might reject due to these reasons)

But nothing happened like that , i guess as long as your documentation is perfect and you are confident you ca get through it.

Thanks to immihelp once again

Visitor Visa Approved (HYD consulate)
Thanks immihelp for the information. The experience I am posting here is based on the accounts my parents provided.

My parents got the visitor visa today! They had a joint interview at 10:45 am and they came out by 11:15 am.

The interview was straight forward similar to most of the interviews listed here. They were asked essentially the same 6-7 questions.

My parents went through the security check and went to the first counter where their documents such as passport, visa receipt and interview letter were confirmed and they were finger printed.

They were handed a token number and they waited in the line as they had opted for a Hindi interview.

An American guy took their interview. He was in general a jovial person and was smiling during the entire interview process.

My father did most of the talking.

These were the questions that were asked:

VO: Why are going?
ans: to visit my son

VO: Where are you going?
ans: city, state

VO: what does your son do?
ans: Position, Company (my father presented the HR letter I received stating how long I have been employed, my salary and my position)
Seeing this letter, the VO smiled and said excellent, this is wonderful.

VO: Again asks, why are you going?
ans: to visit my son and to enjoy the holiday season (Christmas and new year) in US. Again here the VO puts a big smile on his face.

VO: Who else do you have here in India?
ans: other kids and extended family

VO: What do you other kids do?
ans: told their business and professions. Its funny that when my dad said my elder brother own a fast food restaurant, he was like is it close from here and can we get some food from there :-))

VO: Do you have any property?
ans: Yes, here are the property documents (both home and land)

at this time he asks how many acres of land do you have?
ans: Not in acres, this land is within the city so its only ----------- yards..

at this point he writes something on the computer. He goes inside and asks my parents to wait there.

He comes back smiling and says, Alright go and make preparations for the big holiday season. Your VISA is granted...you will receive the visa within 7 days..

Its such a big relief..

Suggestions to other aspirants:
Follow most of the information outlined here in immihelp.
Make sure to prepare for the interview process really well. I was training my parents regularly for the last 2 weeks. Basically, its the same 5-8 questions but I think its the confidence with which you answer that plays the most important role.

Visitor Visa for my wofe got approved in 10 seconds
Interview was at 10.45am wife was applying for a B2 visitor visa to accompany me for 2 weeks and she was out by 11.10am. surprising that the whole process hardly lasted 20 mins , We now feel we were over prepared for the interview cause the VO asked ~8 questions. It was more like a friendly conversation than questions really.
1) where are you going?
2) why are you going?
3) what company does your husband work for?
4) what does he do there?
5) are you working ?
6) may i see your company leave sanction letter?
7) have you ever travelled outside the country?
8) have you travelled within the country?

Enjoy your vacation your passport will reach you within a week.

the following is the key according to my experience.
1) sound confident
2) sound confident
3) sound confident
4) MUG a GOOD Answer the first question it will ALWAYS be asked (why are you going) and if that answer is good then rest of it is just information.
5) look organised with your folder neatly arranged and stuff
6) the answers should be to the point.
7) dont think or blink. (preparation helps) there are lots of questions that can be found on this website IT HELPS download it and do mock interviews it will help with the confidence.
8) dont overload youself with documents just keep what is needed. (a hardcopy photo is NOT required anymore for a B1/B2 VISA)

ours was a weak case - young couple (29 and 27) , living alone, applying for a self sponsored visitor VISA etc but still it is how you say what you say rather than just what you say that matters so work on confidence And go through others experiences on this website it is the BEST source of information.

Visitor Visa got approved at Delhi
First of all thanks to all those people who took their time out to put their experience in this website. It helps a out. That is the same reason i wanted to put my experience.

I had my interview scheduled at New Delhi Consulate at 8:45 AM on 27th September 2010.

I was nervous before interview becoz some of the negative points which i read was that if you are young, single its difficult to get VISA. But honestly after my interview i felt it was all very simple. As long as you are confident in talking its easy.

The most surprsing thing was that VO greeted me saying "How are you doing Mam" and "Hello" though i read they dont even response to your hello.

I was not asked much of the questions. My interview was as follows:

1) Why are you going to USA?
Ans: I said i am going to meet my boyfrnd and for Tourism.
2) What your boyfrnd doing there?
Ans: I told.
3) What you do?
Ans: Told
4) he asked me tell me about your role in brief with the current organisations?
Ans: I explained VO briefly.
5) Where are you going to stay?
6) Will you be travelling around USA?
7) Do you know anyone else in USA?

Overall it was a great experience. I feel as long as your Online application form is accurate you should not worry. After that visa stamping is just a formality. So i would say please correct information in online application form and whatever you put there stick to that only. Then getting a VISA is not that tough.

Thanks
Sneha
