My son and he is working at ZZZ
2. What do you do?
I run YYYY business

She did not ask any questions to my mother.

Belt is a mess.
First of all thanks to all other members who posted their experiences which had helped me a lot.
I got my visitors visa from mumbai. Following are some suggestions:
1. Donot wear a belt when attending the interview. For some security reasons they make u remove it at entrance and putting it on again inside can be cumbersome.
2. If possible dont carry any keys and purse. Take some money, just notes as per ur requirement. They make u empty ur pockets and putting them back can be a problem especially on rush days.
3. If you are carrying all ur support documents in a box type plastic folder or holder, ensure it is transparent (even the outside cover) and doesnot have a metallic handle. Plastic handle is OK. Any type of metal is a problem.
4. VFS gives a facility called Stars and Stripes lounge. This is a very good feature to change and deposit ur luggage, mobiles and keys etc. specially who travel to Mumbai from outside for the interview. Dont think its waste of money.

Regarding accompanying my grandmother aged 79 to VISA office
Dear all,
My name is Srivatsa and I shall be applying for a Visa appointment In CHENNAI CONSULAR OFFICE for my grandmother aged 79 years under the category of TOURIST VISA .

Below are my queries:
1) Since she is old, I would like to assist/accompany her during the visa interview? I got to know from the helpdesk that it is possible and I should carry my passport along with me.
Could you please confirm on the same based on your experience and let know if there are any other prerequisites or documents required?

2) I am looking to apply the Visa interview langaue as TAMIL, since she is comfortable in Tamil. But I am finding it diffiuclt finding a appointment date in Tamil. She knows bit of English. Hence, in case, I apply for Visa interview in English and during the interview, if required, would I be able to support her during her conversation with the Visa interviewing officer when she is unable to understand their style/accent.

Please let know so that I could plan accordingly

 1.Educational documents

Visitor visa interview at chennai, US Cons-Tamil interview
Thanks a lot to immihelp.com

Son-in-law sponsored Visitor visa for in-laws which got approved. Visa interview in Tamil.

My in-laws got two childrens. My wife and her brother. Both the kids are in US with their families.

We trained my in-laws for two months. Prepare all documents and supporting documents as per checklist at immihelp.
We referred B2 experiences posted on immihelp for last months and finally arrived at consolidated Q & A.

All we mentioned to our in-laws are to be truthfull, confident.
We also prepared them mentally to accept good result or bad result.
We were bit worried because of both the two kids are living in USA, but answering truely with confidence really helped..

Questions

Your daughter is in which visa

hi all, finally its my turn to post my experience, i have been following this website for almost 2months.

first off, i would like to thank almighty god and then immihelp. very good website for people like me travelling in the same boat.

im the only child and my father passed away in 98. none of my grandparents are alive. my mum tried in 2009 and 2010 for the visas but in vain. my mum is very comfy in english but just as a luck charm i took hindi this time though there werent any translators available. neways her interview was on 16th feb 2011 at 8 30 at Delhi Consulate. the interviewer was a nice person. questions were grilling :
Q1. why do u want to visit?
Q2. why did you go to UK two times?
Q3. why did you go to europe last year?
Q4. how can you afford so many trips being a teacher?
Q5. What does your son in law (my husband) do?
Q6. when did they get married?
Q7. was it love marriage?

After all this interrogation (dats what i call) he was about to return the passport but at the last minute said ok i will issue you a visa this time. dats it..

key points: my mum dint lie at all though i asked her to manipulate few things but sheez a teacher after all.. :), SO DONT LIE, the interviewer asked the most unexpected questions, SO BE READY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING, no docs were asked for..LUCK plays the trump card, trust me on that..

all the best
