I had attended interview at Hyderabad consulate on 19th April 2010 with my wife and kid.The VO was very cool and smart. My wife and me are working as NCC officers. Our interview was like this.
Me: Good after noon sir!
VO: Good after noon how r u?
Me: Fine Sir!
VO:What do You do?
Me:Working as NCC Officers.
VO: What is ur annual Income?
Me:I told my monthly income?
VO:Why You want to go?
Me: To spend summer vacation.
VO: Your passport will reach u in a week.

We were very happy. after three days passports reached home my wife and kids passport came with stamping of 10years multiple entry but my passport came with a blue form 221g stating that submit a new passport as my old passport is damaged. I applied new passport under the tatkal scheme on 27th April and got it on 29th april on hand. submitted the new passport at vfs on 30th April 2010. 1st May and 2nd May were holidays VFS submitted the passport at consulate on 3rd May. I received the passport with stamping 10 years multiple on 6th May.

I am US citizen and my parent's visitor visa was denied
A month ago, I invited my parents to come and visit me after my mother lost two of ther brothers in less than a year. Last Monday (April 19th), their visa was denied with no explanation whatsoever. They were dismissed in 30 seconds despite the fact that they had all the documentation showing their ties to Colombia. My parents are 60 and 63 year old. They had to travel for 8 hours to the embassy and paid $130 each, yet the embassy did not even look at their supporting documentation and denied the visa to them.
My parents have no intention whatsoever of immigrating to the US. That is why I have not petitioned them as residents. However, that is not our intention. They live very happily at home, and simply want to be able to visit me once in a while.
I am very saddened by this event. It breaks my heart that my parents cannot come to see this wonderful country. I could petition them, but I feel that it would be like accepting that they want to immigrate, which is not the case. I cannot believe that a US citizen can be deprived of enjoying the company of her family for no good reason.
I am planning to go personally to the US embassy in about two weeks because I consider this a very unfair treatment of me and my family.

I appreciate any advice,
thanks,

Visitor Visa
My parents went to Chennai Consulate for tourist visa interview. My father was not a government employee, no pension and I am the only son. I had arranged the interview in Tamil, though my father was comfortable in English. The interview was successful and I asked my father to compile his experience and tips.

So here it is below :

FEW TIPS FOR B1/B2 US VISA INTERVIEW:
1. Do not go very early. It is sufficient if you are 30 mins before the appointment.
2.Choos your mother tongue for interview.
3.It is advisable to carry Election ID Card, so that you can collect stamped passport same day or next day. We had problem as our town was not covered by Blue Dart.
4.Please keep a photocopy of your passport.
5.Be cool and attentive;Be fresh and Bold
6.The answers you give should tally with information it was entered in the application form. You go through the application form thoroughly before the interview.
8.Do not have heavy food before the interview. Have a good sleep the previous night.
9.Their talk is business like, so answer to the point.
10.Ensure that your spouse understands all the documents, application forms so that they can also comfortably take the interview.
11.Greet and Wish when you first meet and also after the interview. This carries the goodwill.

Questions Asked:
To Dad:
1. Where do you intend to go?
2. Why do you want to visit?
3. How will you manage for expenses at US?
4. What is the purpose of your visit?
5. Are you working?
6. Are you a pensioner?
7. If not, how do you manage here?
8. Assets at India, if any?
9. How big is your family?
10. How long you intend to stay over there?
11. In which town your son is at US?

To Mom:
1. What do you do ?

Thanks Immihelp and all users for posting their experiences. Wish all of you good luck !!

Regards,
Arun

denied visa.
my parents were denied visa at mumbai consulate and the reason given was "due to american economy and laws we cannot issue a visa". I didn't know that, that could be a reason too.
my income is 100,000/yr. they never looked at my papers, only asked about my father's income tax return and asked who is in USA, with rest of the other simple questions.
I think it's all your luck and the mood of officer there.

visa refusal
hi to all!i want to share my sad experience about visa refusal,i was interviewed just this month ,the consul asked me as to who am i going to visit in the US so i told her my bf's name, then she asked me my ex fiancee's name and i told her that he was my ex,im sure they knew it from their database that someone from b4 filed a petition for me,i never expect that they would ask me about him i was surprised, btw,he filed a fiance petition but when my interview date was scheduled he never talked to me nor told me that his gonna break up on me..(sad)i dont have an idea if he called or emailed the embassy as i told him to let them know he's cancelling the petition.because i was depressed i never had the chance to call the embassy,i never showed up during the interview sched.(it was a sad past)now i met a guy and we've been in a relationship for 3 yrs now and hes inviting me for a vacation and wanted to bring me to disney and other part of US,my prob is i got denied.can reapply for a visa again next month?is there any effect from my previous petition, after all it was not my fault?i have a good paying job for 2 yrs now,do i still have the chance for a tourist visa?how can i prove to them am not going to stay in america for long?will the invitation with a promise to take care of the expenses from my boyfriend works out?
