visa refusal
hi to all!i want to share my sad experience about visa refusal,i was interviewed just this month ,the consul asked me as to who am i going to visit in the US so i told her my bf's name, then she asked me my ex fiancee's name and i told her that he was my ex,im sure they knew it from their database that someone from b4 filed a petition for me,i never expect that they would ask me about him i was surprised, btw,he filed a fiance petition but when my interview date was scheduled he never talked to me nor told me that his gonna break up on me..(sad)i dont have an idea if he called or emailed the embassy as i told him to let them know he's cancelling the petition.because i was depressed i never had the chance to call the embassy,i never showed up during the interview sched.(it was a sad past)now i met a guy and we've been in a relationship for 3 yrs now and hes inviting me for a vacation and wanted to bring me to disney and other part of US,my prob is i got denied.can reapply for a visa again next month?is there any effect from my previous petition, after all it was not my fault?i have a good paying job for 2 yrs now,do i still have the chance for a tourist visa?how can i prove to them am not going to stay in america for long?will the invitation with a promise to take care of the expenses from my boyfriend works out?

Mom got visa
Hi,My mom got visa at Mumbai consulte last week of this month. Questions asked are:
Why are you going?
Tourism.
Where are you going? (no need of formal address)
name of city, state.
How many months you are going to be there?
6 months
How are all in your family?
Told names.
Why you are travelling alone? (As she is alone, my father expired)
I believe this is key question. Mom said it's long time she is staying alone which inturn made all effect. VO said your visa is done. Did not ask for any documents.
All the time my mom was confident even she saw rejections around for others. She said she was not doing anything wrong and her intentions are true.
I would like to thank immihelp as we prepared all questions from this website and that was great help.

B-2 visa refusal
My sister 45 appeared for visitor visa at New Delhi. She is homemaker and has 2 marriageable age sons. My brother in law is not travelling. She also has some properties etc.
She was asked following questions
1. Does your brother live there?
Yes
2. What does your husband do?
Business
3. What kind of business?
answered accordingly
4. Have you travelled abroad?
No

She was told You wont get visa. The American lady visa office did not bother to ask about family ties, did not ask for property papers. How could she have possibly proved the ties when she did not even get a chance??

221 (g)
Hi,

I went for the Visa interview on April 20, 2010, along with my 3yr old daughter, at the pre-screening they said I had entered one question wrong and asked me to change and come back.
question was "Purpose of the travel" unfortunately I had written international employee option. since i was suggested by my husband.
I changed it to B2 - visitor purpose/ tourist.
now they have put it under 221(g) pending process.

Questions asked in the interview.
1. Have travelled internationaly? where? why?
ans. yes, Korea, accompany husband

2. What does he do?
ans. he works for SISO and was there on buisness trip.

3. Why do you want to go to USA?
ans. I'm accompaning my husband on his buisness.

4. who does he work for?
ans. Works for SISO.

5. What is pay pack?
ans. ---told his CTC ---

asked me to go to Counter D

there was a lady who asked me what have i studied?
I replied BBA.
she voided or drew a line accross the pink slip. I confirmed abt the documents she said no need of it. and it will take 3 weeks to process. She took my passport and gave me my case number. Now I'm confused what are the next procedure.

Regards,
Rekha

B2 - visitor visa approved.
Hi,

Thanks to immihelp ,which helped me in preparing the documents correctly. In fact , I didn't refer any other site for preparing the documents.

I am working as a Consultant for the past 4 yrs in Chennai. I was granted leave for 2 months by my employer. I had applied for visitor visa in Dec 2009 to visit my sister for Christmas and New Year.

The interview took only 5 minutes.
the visa officer asked me :

1) About my employment
2) letter from my employer granting my leave
3) my sister's employment and employer name.
3) whether someone is travelling with me .

I told them that my husband is not accompanying me as he is employed here. This is was one strong point in my case apart from the letter given by my employer. They didn't ask any of my bank details or my husband's.

I was given 10 years multiple entry visa !!!!!I am just 26 yrs old and was granted 10 yrs visitor visa !

Just be confident and answer the questions to the point. One should just prove that one will come back after the trip. Thats is all is needed.

But inspite of answering correctly and having all the documents , they might reject your visa. It entirely depends on the visa officer !

In my case , i just took a chance and I was lucky enough.I made the trip and now I am back in Chennai .

All the Best to others who are trying for a visitor visa !!

Visitor Visa for Mom DENIED & 214(b) Refusal Letter given
I would like to share the sad experience received today. I have been a US Legal Permanent Resident since 1993 and my wife (married since 1997) is U.S. born Citizen. Today, 04/20, my mom whos is 62 went for Visa Interview at US Embassy (Consulat) - Kinshasa, Democratic Rep. of Congo and she was DENIED visa. Here are the questions asked:

1 - Why are you going to U.S.?
Answer: Visiting my son, my daughter-in-law and my grandchildern.

2 - Are you married?
Answer: YES.

3 - Where is your husband at? Why is he not going?
Answer: He is at home and my other son accompanied me for the interview. My husband is not going. He is staying. I am going.

4 - Who is paying for the trip?
Answer: My son is paying for the trip.

5 - Do you have any documents from your son?
Answer: Yes, here (she gave the documents to the Consular Officer).

Then, the CO told my mom that we cant give you a VISA at this time. Come back when you are ready for the trip. She was given the 214(b) Refusal Letter.

From my thoughts, I believe my mom missed to explain in details the Question 3. They could not both go since they have 4 young grandchildren under their care.

B2 VISA
My Parents recently got B2 Visa for 10 years, multiple entry. I was not sure of them getting through when applying, as I recently got H1B and my job is still new. I thought I didnt even have enough funds in my account ($8000, for sponsoring 2 person). But it all went well in the end. My parents were not very comfortable with english so I booked the appointment in Hindi. The VO was nice and didnt asked many questions. Both my parents had the interview together and my father spoke most of the time. He was asked casual questions regarding his job, before he got retired from it.

So I think good paperwork and confidence are the key. Except for the insufficient funds in bank (which they didnt even check at the time of interview) everything else was up-to-the-mark.
