We looked on the official US Consulate website for guidance and almost used a travel agency to get our application processed since we don't have any computer savvy folks in India.

My parents got visa
My parents went for their visa interview on 17th Feb at Hyderabad.I want to thank immihelp for all the valuable information they have provided on this website.We took the appointment in telugu ,no translator,VO speaks Telugu fluently.
VO asked the following questions
to mom:
1)Who is staying in US?
A)my daughter and son-in-law
2)Where does your so-in-law work?
A) YYYY company
3)How many children do you have?
A)3(2 sons in India and daughter in US)
4)Are all married?
A)eldest son and daughter are married.
5)Younger son is not married?
A)yes
He keeps my parents passports.By now parents realized they got visa.
T Dad:
1)What do you do?
A)i have my own business?
2)What business?
A) YYYY business
3)Do you have a own house?
A)Yes we have own house.
He said you got visa,your passport will be sent in 5 days.My parents took all the required documents,none were asked though.Thank all the gods for helping my parents.

I would like to share my mothers visa experience at Hyd consulate on Feb 18th 2010.
She was asked the following questions and was granted the visa:
1. Why r u going to USA
2. Where do your daughter and son in law live
3. How many children do u have(Its me and my sister, my sister is in India)
4. What does your elder son-in-law do?
5. what does your younger son-in-law do? (My mom told my husbands occupation and where he works)
6. Is your daughter working in US or stays at house? (My mom told where I am working and what I do)
7. She asked me where my father is working in India? (My mom said he is an government employee working in YYYY X)
visa officer took my moms passport, confirmation page, iterview letter, HDFC receipt and said that she would be getting her passport back within 5 days.

My Mother-In-Law got a visa at Hyderabad Consulate , AP. My Father-In-Law passed away long ago and she appeared on 03/16/2010 alone at consulate and they simply asked 4 questions. She has her father to take care of.
1. Where are you going ?
A. Pittsburgh
2. Who is sponsoring your trip?
A. My Son-In-Law
3. How many kids you have ?
A. Only 1 daughter. and my father is depended
on me and i need to come back to take care
of him.
4. How long will you stay at pittsburgh?
A. 4-5 months
They said your passport will be sent to given adderss. You got a visa.
I am on H1B and my wife is on H4 visa and we are staying in USA since 4 yrs.
Answer straight and confidently to their questions.

221 g blue to one parent @ HYD consulate 50 days gone

I wanted to share my parents experience at the Hyd consulate. My parents attended interview (english) for Visitor visa on 22nd Dec, 2010.The interview went normal and VO told my father your visa is granted and then retained my mom's passport and handed her a blue slip,stating that it needs additional admin. processing (AAP). She then took my mom's name in hindi and her parents' name and says no more documents required. As on today, the case no. appears on 14th page (since 2 weeks no movement). 50 days are gone already. My father got the visa in a week but my mom's visa and passport is struck up there.My mom is a housewife and I see no reason why visa was issued only to my dad. I wanted to know if she can reapply?? Any idea on processing times?

visitor visa was rejected for my parents. please advise
Hi,
My parents went for the visitor visa appointment yesterday and it was rejected. At the first place, they forgot to carry the blue receipt but at Embassy they were told to deposit the fee again and come back today itself. My father deposited the fee again and got the new receipt and went back to Embassy. They were asked 4-5 simple questions and finally said we cant give the visa and vo gave a book to them. I want to reapply and need your suggestions. Can we also use the same receipt which was not used as we had two? Please advise. Thanks in advance

Visa granted ( we are told that it will be sent by courier)

Hi everybody! My first attempt to get a tourist visa last Dec17 and I got the blue form or denied and I was re-applied my application for the second time around. and my console interview will be on Feb23. Any advise from everyone here in this site, please help me I really need to get the visa and I want to visit my relatives in Hawaii. Thanks in advance!

Interviewer asked only these 4 questions:
1. Why are you going to US?
A: To meet my son
2. How many children do you have?
A 3 - 2 daughters and 1 son
3. Where are your daughters?
A married and settled in india
4. Is your son married?
A No
