Granted Visitor's visa in 2 nd attempt
My parents were refused visitor's visa about 2 months back under section 214(b) due to one
missing document & language was English in Mumbai Consulate.

Next time with lot of courage my mother reapplied & that interview was on 6 th Jan 2010 in Marathi Language & she got the 10 years visa in 2 nd attempt. (Her interview exp also i have mentioned previously for 6 th Jan 2010)
That boosted my father's confidence too & he also reapplied & he was granted visitor's visa in Mumbai Consulate on 28 th Jan 2010 in Marathi language. His interview was much cool compared to what my mother had. It went like this:

VO :What's purpose of visit?
Ans: Tourism & to meet Daughter & Son in law

VO:What does daughter do?
An: House wife

Vo:Do they have kids?
Ans:Not yet

Vo: What does Son in Law do & where does he stay?
Ans: appropriate ans

Vo:Retired from which company & do you get pension?
Ans: appropriate ans

VO: Is your wife going to accompany you for US trip?
Ans: No. Since we have family constraints, can't travel together.

** Here VO might have noticed that this is my father's second round & his wife already got visa. Earlier they both were together **

VO:Do you have anybody close relative in Mumbai?
Ans: Elder daughter & other close relatives.

And finally visa is granted. Don't know yet duration though. Hoping for 10 yrs multiple.

Here I would like to tell all those parents who got rejection in first attempt, try to attend next interview separately & in regional language.
Also try to show your family bonds in India by some or anyhow.

I am so happy for them now. My sincere Thanks to immihelp.com for their much valuable help & i am also thankful to all those who shared their sweet or bitter experiences here, that helps a lot to face the interview. Good Luck to all who are trying to get visa !!

hi all,
Finally the good news ! my parents got visa yesterday !!
This was second time they applied. First time was one year before so this time I was very much tenced...!
The interview was as follows:-
1. Why are you going to America?
2. Wht she does?
3.Which school she went for studies?
4. Where she lives?
5. Who else is in your family?

That's it !
Interview was in regional languageso there was a translator who was translating questions and answers into English.
The experience was very pleasant. There was no rush and long lines. They took VFS coupon so thats a very nice service offered.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to this website and everyone on here. All the material on this website was very much useful.
Good luck to all !

Best,

Granted Visitor's Visa in 2 nd attempt
My Parents were refused visitor's visa about 2 months back under section 214(b) due to one missing document, their language was English in Mumbai consulate.
Next time my mother reapplied alone & she selected regional language 'Marathi' & i knew what the missing document was & she was ready with that document this time.
She is granted Tourist visa(B2) on Jan 5 th 2010. Yet I don't know what's the duration
I am hoping it's for 10 Years, multiple entry.

Here though ultimately my mom got visa, questions were somewhat related to previous refusal. First of all VO immediately saw on her computer that my mom & dad both were refused b2 visa before. Questions are below:

VO:Why do you want to go to US?
Ans: Tourism & to visit daughter & son in law

VO:This time you are applying alone? Your husband was interviewed here right about some time back? Why is he not applying now?
Ans: Yes husband did give interview. But this time due to family issues & his mom is unwell he couldn't come & i am applying alone.

VO: What your daugter does?
Ans: H4 would you like to see her papers?

VO: Was she doing something before?
Ans: Yes She was on H1b & was working.

Note: Here I would like to tell you that some of my relevant document was missing last time so parents didn't get visa.
So VO enquired more on my current status & what I am doing currently. VO didn't at all see any paper.

VO: Why she stopped working suddenly?
Ans: Her project is over & now she is nt getting another project. So she came on H4

Vo:when daughter got married?
Ans: Mom told month & year

Vo: What son in law does & how long he has been in US?
Ans: Mom told month & year & occupation

VO: What degree did son in law take in US?
Ans: MS Comp Sc

Vo:Where does he stay now?
Ans: appropriate ans.

VO: Where is son in law working?
Ans: Mom told company name & location.

And finally she was granted visa.
Here I would like to tell all those parents whose
visa got rejected & reapplying now,
First of all try to see what went wrong before, next time when you go for interview be prepared
that VO would ask or might refer his questions based on earlier refusal. So be genuine & be confident at the same time. Whenevr get a chance try to explain how you are busy with family responsibilities.

Visa Interview. (Visit)
I can just share my experience stating that we will have to be precise, confident, smiling and answer the few questions they ask. They usually ask the same questions like what is the purpose of visit, how long you stay, who will support, what you do, who is there in US, what is he whom you are visiting in US, which places you would like to visit in US etc., etc. Do not give any scope of suspicion either in answering the questions or in body language. Simple, they say that you have got your VISA. Say thanks and just leave the counter.

visitor visa for my parents
i am a student and filed for visitor visa for my parents. Being a student the reason/purpose for application was to attend my graduation. My father and i were the sponsors. The officer asked finance/business related questions from my dad and then he looked at my mom and asked general questions from her. They both answered all the questions but were not asked to show any documents. Here i would like to mention that 1 couple that went before my parents was denied their visa because only the husband was answering all the questions and not his wife even though officer asked questions from her. so only advice from our experioence is that both, husband and wife should be prepared for interview session.
