Something against certain state people?
I deposited documents in Mumbai consulate last month, and officer asked me about my community. I am Gujarati and applying for business visa. I think I was separated because he had too many questions for me, not related to any work.
He asked if I had people in NewYork and what they did. I am going only for visiting relative, and also he has a company for me do business from India. Then one more officer asked same questions after I waited. Suddenly they said no visa for me. I had every possible papers and had done preparation. Still they said they need not give me reason. seriously I think they are targeting Gujaratis. When even our CM visa is rejected, makes me think like that.

Parents Visa approved...:)
Thank you Immi help for all the suggestions/ Articles.....
My Parents appeared for Visitor visa earlier today at delhi consulate and they got the Visa.
My dad told me that everything was simple....
They (my parents) went to the hindi counter and there were not too many poeple lined up in this counter...(all other counters were very busy)..
The lady asked him about what he does (he is a central govt employee), his salary, when is he retiring and about other family members (My sister who is married and lives in India)....
Thats it.
After that she told him and my mother that their visa has been approved...
Huh what a relief!!!!!!!

Parents got 10 year Visa
I would like to thank immihelp.com and other users for their valuable contribution. My parents got their 10 year visa at Mumbai consulate. I had asked for the Hindi interpreter too since my mother is not fluent in English. Only few questions were asked which my father replied. The interpreter just verified with my father whether he understood the questions. The interview was mainly focussed on why they would come back. My father mainly gave the reasons as dependent father and daughter.

Hi all,
My parents had their interview in telugu on sep 1st at Chennai consulate. They got 10 yr visa. I am very thankful to this website.I am a GC holder and my brother is on H1b. I prepared all the docs and also prepared interview questions.
All questions were asked to my father.
Here r the questions from Interview.........
1. How many children u have?
2. Where r they n what r they doing?
3. Is everyone married?
4. What does ur son-in-law do?
5. What do u do for living?
6. Do u own a house?
7. How many months u wanna visit USA?

Thats it. They've asked to pay the fees. They haven't asked about any docs except for tax docs.
Today my parents received their passports with 10yrs stamp.
Once again thanks a lot to u all.......

Happy Daughter

How to reschedule appointment easily
Hi,
Iam writing this letter with very much disappointment. My mom went for visitors visa interview to chennai consulate on aug 30th 2005.She was well prepared with the help of immihelp. And we took the interview from the web site initialy in English and planning to change in Tamil because my mom was more comfortable in Tamil.BUT WHEN WE WENT TO CHANGE IN TAMIL ON THE 2ND WEEK OF AUG we coundn't modify that, because they took off that option .Then one of my friend said,we can still request in Tamil when we go for the interview.
On the interview day She went to the first counter submitted all the papers and requested for a Tamil interpreter and the guy said she has to reschedule the interview with Tamil interpreter because they woun't do that since aug..They didn't let her go for the interview. She was so unhappy,But again we thought we may get the next appointmemt within a month since it is a reschedule appointment. But when we check via website the next appointment is only on feb 2006 and that is also not open yet.we had already waited 5 months to go for this one.

OK now My question is,IS there any way we can get the interview date early since it is a reschedule appointment.?

PLEASE HELP ME.

   THANKS,
   JOHN.

VISITORS VISA B1 / B2
I got my Business visitors visa B1 / B2 for multiple entry for 10 years. With reference from IMMIHELP I prepared several documents but they checked only my three years income tax returns and invitation letter from my U.S. client. They ask me only few questions:
Q: Why you want to go to U.S.?
Ans: For business purpose.

Q: In what business you are in ?
Ans: I am in export and import business.

Q: What item you export ?
Ans: I export ----- and -----

Q: What is the full name of your customer in U.S. ?
Ans: Name of my U.S.customer is Mr.------

Q:Are you a tax payer? Can I see your tax papers?
Ans: I showed them original copy of Form No. 2D of income tax for last three years.

Q: Do you have an invitation letter from your U.S. client? Can you show me?
Ans: I did show them the original copy of invitation letter sent by my U.S.client Mr.-----

Q: Had you been to abroad previously?
Ans: Yes sir,So many times. I visited so many countries, including U.K. France, U.A.E.

Q:Which country you visited last?
Ans: I went to Japan and South Korea last month only.

Q: How long are you intending to stay in U.S.
Ans: Only 14 days sir.

Q: If your wife is coming with you to U.S.?
ANS: No sir.

Q: Where is she now?
Ans: She is at my home looking after my parents and children.

Counsel officer: Congratulation Gentlaman. You will get your passport with a visa stamp on it with in three days by courier. Have a nice trip.

I was fully loaded with a bunch of several documents and papers with 3 files containing 13 different folders containing following papers.

(1)My set of papers were including recomondation letters from my Business chamber of commerce, Export promotion council, My Banker,My export import firm,My U.S. client etc.

(2) Bank statement of last three years.

(3) xerox of all my export import related certificates like PAN NUMBER, R.B.I.CODE NUMBER, EXPORT LICENCE, Chamber of commerce membership card, Export promotion council membership card, Ration card, voters card etc.

(4) Affidavit for my property, shares, Bank fix deposits, L.I.C. etc.

(5) All correspondance with my U.S. client including invoices and payment receipts of my previous exports to U.S.

(6) All papers related to my academic carrier and certificates.

(7) My marriage affidavit, my marriage photographs, My recent family photographs, my old age parent's photographs etc.

(8) Original and xerox of passports of my wife and children.

(9)All my debit, credit and clubmembership cards.

(10) Xerox copy of advertisement and catalog brochures of our products.

In my opinion my visa was fixed by seeing my D.S.156 and my passort full of visas of western countries.
The consular officer was rapid firing with the questions to check my confidence level.

Always remember that consular officer can ask for any supporting documents so please be prepared.

Any body can seek my help in this regard can contact me.

I am planning to visit the US in the month of october 2005. I modestly offer to escort any old aged person if it is genuinely needed.

Yours
P.C.

B2 visa for widowed mom approved after two rejects
My widowed mom's b2 visa was rejected twice under potential immigrant category. We are three sons all in the US with no siblings in India. She got it approved recently the third time. I want to share our experience so that it is helpful to other people who are in the same boat.

My mom is conversant only in Tamil and very shy type, so we tired to do three things differently this time:
1) answer two most important questions within the visa application form in english.

a) why she wants to go to the US? - to visit her three sons, visa copy attached and also tourist places like...

b) how long she will stay there? - maximum 3 months as she has to return due to so and so reasons.

2) We attached our visa copies with a cover letter. She had all other supporting documents ( affifidavit of support, suggesting return to india) in her bag in case they asked.

3) trained her in front of mirror, for different possible questions (see these forums for the questions) and resisted her one line answers without reasons. Of course she was game to the whole thing :-).

At her interview, her training helped boost her confidence and they read the whole application and also asked her one question- so you have three sons in US? saw our visa stamping copies ( this has all the information where your son works etc... helps avoid answering extra questions) and approved visa five minutes flat without any further questions.

The three steps ofcourse does not guarantee but just may increase your odds.

Please keep us posted if this helped your parents (especially if single parent only) case. Will make our day happy too just like yours.

Regards,
RK
