Thanks Immihelp for your valuable information regarding Visiting Visa
My parents had interview on Aug 3rd around 11:00 am in Chennai consulate,
i sent all documents and i gave full info and told them how to answer visa officer questions
Visa officer asked some questions and my parents answered in English only

1.Who is in America?
2.When he went to America?
3. How many Children you have ? where are they?
my parents told 4 children and 7 grand children
at this time Visa officer asked about names of Grand children
my parents told some nick names then visa officer told to write in paper their real names
my parents gave names and showed pictures also

4. about my father's work, He told he is retired 10 years back
5. Asked about his income details

Visa Office looked all my papers and especially my W2 forms it seems
then she told to go and pay the visa fee

Parents got VISA - Chennai Consulate
My parents got visa on their first attempt when they appeared for the interview today - August 4th.
They appeared at the gate 20 minutes before the scheduled time and handed over the TTS VISA draft. There was a person who isued a token and they proceeded to another building. Within a few minutes they were called by a VISA officer. He was a white, it seems.
They were asked the following questions

1. How long are you going to USA
2. Who is sponsoring you
3. Where does the sponsor work
4. Show me the Sponsor Documents
5. when are you coming back

And the visa was granted

Thx

Parent's visitor visa was denied
First of all, I would like to thank the administrator Immihelp. Its an awesome website , which helps people like me , who are clueless ( most of us are) about immigration and visa process.

My parents had an interview on Aug 3rd 2005 in Chennai. they had all the paper work etc. I and my wife both are USC.

They asked my parents for my passport and then told them they cannot get the visa as I am USC. and told them to apply for immigration Visa.

Now how rediculus is this. My parent wanted to visit us and go back. Now they are forcing them to get an immigration visa.

I am an younger brother who live in delhi and my paent were showing all the tie to back home. However, this officer didn't even ask this.

Really frustrated. Is this is some kind of rule that parents can't come if sponsor is a USC. Never heard any where. That was the only reason given.

I have to now apply for their immigrant visa, which will take its sweet time I guess.

Thanks

mom got her visitors visa(interview in english)
Hi all,

I'm happy to let you know that my mom got her visitor visa in chennai on aug 2nd.She is still waiting for the passport.I wanted to post my experience as it might help people who accidentally booked their parents interview in English.First of all, if they are able to speak in broken english that is enough.Dont lose hope and cancel the appointment.Give them lot of training for answering in english.Thats what I did in my moms case.Itseems she asked for an interpreter to the officer directly in english :) and he said that you are speaking just fine and asked her to proceed.
There are basic questions like where and what is your daughter doing, what is your son-in-law doing ,show me your daughter's and son-in-law's passports, for how long do you want to stay(3-4months), why do you want to come back after 3 months(since there is another daughter living here and my husband is also living here), why is your husband not accompanying you(He has to look after my daughter, his mother, and property).Thats all.THe officer smilingly told her to pay the fees and go home.
All these answers were given in english with full of confidence due to the training.Initially I was afraid how to prepare my mom ,but after reading all the suggestions from immihelp and other websites, I was assured that practice is all what is required.
I wish you all good luck and hope my experience will be useful for some of you

My in-laws got visa in second attempt on 4th Aug
Hello all,
Thanks to immihelp. My in-laws got visa in second attempt. First time they attended for interview on Feb 2005 got rejected. We don't know it's going to be single entry or multiple entry as we haven't received the passports yet.

Note: When my in-laws attended the interview in the month of FEB, rejections were morethan 70%, now success rate is like 70%. So please be confident and hope for the better results.

Only three questions were aked.

Who is there in USA
FIL answer: Our daughter and family

Who are there is India:
FIL answer: Our two sons and my mom

Show me the affidavit?
FIL: He has presented his affidavit, officer aksed to show the affidavit of sponser, my FIL showed the affidavit from me.

Officer didn't check any other documents.
Officer asked them to pay the dd's at the counter.

In preparing the documentation, I read all the notes from Immihelp and read through all experiances and prepared the check list of documents and all possible questions. I did a mock interview to in-laws and prepared them with suggested answeres and explaied them what not to tell. Asked them same questions again and again, till they feel confident about the questions.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you

Mother got 10 ME Visa thought I am in India
Dear Friends,

Thanks so much Immi help for providing great inputs for preparing the visa docs and interview.

I was in a unique situation working for an Indian company and shunting from Bangalore and US every two months.
I am in Bangalore went with my mother on 2-Aug for interview. It was taken in Kannda.
I had prepared all the docs as mentioned in the site here. I had I134 got signed when I was in US last time in June.
Mother had affidavits and CA letter for the property affidavit.

Mother had B2 Visa issued last time in 1999 for 6 months, but couldn't travel. She is a widow and I am the only son and my sister is working in Bangalore.

With these mother went for interview with enough preparation.

She Greeted the CO.

CO: Why are you going to US.
Mother: Tourism

For how long ?
4-6 months.

How many children do you have.?
2, son and daughter. Son is US but currently in India. Daughter is in Bangalore.

Are you sure you will come back to India.?
Yes, I am. I have a mother who is old and property at my home town.

How old is your mother?
78-80 Yrs.

When did your husband die ?
10 Yrs back.

Why your visa was rejected last time ?
No, it was not rejected. But I couldn't travel.
(Now she was asked can you show the old passport. She couldn't travel because her passport was damaged while taking photocopy). She showed the damaged passport and CO looked into it and returned.

Translator informed my mother got visa and can submit the DD at counter.

Mother said Thanks and came out.

That's it. My mother answered all the questions very confidently in Kannada.
04-Aug we received the passport with 10 Yr, Multiple entry.

Thanks everyone.
