Visa Rejected as Travel Agent filled the form
My parents visa was unfortunately rejected. My father is a GM (now red.)at a reputed PSU. All our papers were perfectly in order. My parents have even travelled to Europe and Asia on several occassions, and hence and we were very confident about getting the visa. However, when we filed for the appointment, my father was a bit busy, and hence applied through a reputed travel agent who filled up the DS156 form with the information my father had supplied.
During the interview all went well until the Officer saw that the form was completed by an Agent. At this point the officer got upset and started asking my father, why he had not completed his own form despite being a Retd. GM and being proficient in English. The officer would listen to any explanation, and finally rejected the Visa.
We are very dissappointed since the visa was rejected for a flimsy reason such as this.
My advice to people applying, is to fill in your own form in person.

Visa Appointment - misusing
Iheard there are agencies working around consulates in India who charge 1000Rs and more for appointments. They do fake bookings (No wonder appointments are not avaialble for months) and whenapproached they will cancel one appointment and get another one using different terminals at the same time.

This is complete misuse of the system and I am reporting this to the tts services and the consulate. If anybody have any information about this, post it here.

Mom got visa in 2nd attempt at Mumbai
I would like to thank immihelp for allowing us to share experiences and learn from them.

My mother went for a visitor visa yesterday and was granted a visa (we don't know yet how many years). Unlike the first appointment, this time both the translator and the interviewer were courteous and friendly.

I had prepared my mom with the questions from this site. So, it was a breeeze. Some of the questions asked.

* Why are you going to the US
* What does your daughter do
* how long has she been there
* Is she married
* how long is she married
* how many children do you have
* where are they
* how many grandchildren do you have
* whom do you stay with
* Do you take care of your grandchild here?
* What does your husband do
* how long will you stay
* are you being truthful that you will return in 4 months?

You have been granted a visa. It will come to your home.

My mom thanked them profusely and they said 'welcome'.

Agains, thank you immihelp for providing a platform to share all this information.

Visa rejected
My mother went to Chennai consulate on 18th august 2005 and she had an appointment in English. One American guy interviewed her. After seeing Qatar visa stamped on her passport, he started asking several questions and mother couldn't understand many of them. She was asked to take an appointment in native language.

Unfortunately there was no appointment in 2005 and 2006 is not open yet. They never looked at the documentation, which is prepared after taking painful hours, but took the DD. They also took the thumbprint.

How can she get an appointment in native language immediately? They could have given an appointment then itself.

The experiences I have heard from others at the consulate is very disturbing. Why would they give so much pain for elderly people who wanted to visit their kids in USA?

Parents got 10 year visa at Chennai Consulate
Hi,

My parents were granted 10 year multiple entry visitor visa on August 10th at Chennai consulate.

The language chosen was English. Young male consular interviewed them. Seems like he has asked almost all the questions about my Dad's business that he used to do few years ago and nothing particular about me. He has asked my mom only one question "how many sisters you have?" for which my Dad replied.

The consular had seen only DS-156, my green card, employment letter.. Looks like he asked for Income Tax document but since I had sent only W2 my Dad has showed that to him.

But he did not ask for I-134 affidavit of support document! He didn't see bank letter, statement, invitation letter I sent.

He did not ask for my Dad's property docs, affidavit, tax statement.

My dad has mentioned that he will come back to India since he has properties to manage, daughter and grandchilder are here.

Finally the consular has asked them to pay the fees but didn't tell them about the duration of the visa. Only after they received the passport they knew it was for 10 years.

From my parents experience I guess it is important to convince the consular during the interview by replying confidently to the questions asked and documents seem to be only secondary.

Looks like that had to wait for 4 hours from the appointment time before they were called for interview.

I want thank IMMIHELP.COM for its great service, guidance and support and providing us a platform to share our experience so all of us can benefit from each other. Keep up the good work!

Thanks
Anand

Got US Visitor's Visa!
Hi

I had my US Visitors Visa interview at the Mumbai consulate today and was granted the Visa. The lady interviewing me was very polite and asked only a few questions:

1. What do you do at your company - your role
2. How much do you earn annually
3. Why did u go to Japan (i had visited japan 2 years ago)
4. Other places you have visited for tourism
5. What does you sister do in US?
6. what does her husband do?
7. How much will this trip cost you?
(I mentioned a figure, for which she said 'that is almost half your annual salary". I replied that my husband was financing my entire trip)
8. what does your husband do? Is he coming with you? why not?
9. How much leave do you have from your company?
10. show me the leave letter from company.

Thats it. She didnt ask to see my sister's visa papers, nor any of our IT returns, pay slips, investments. The only document she took was the Company leave letter. At the end of these questions, she said I had got the visa and would receive it by courier. I dont know yet for how many years it has been stamped.

Thanks immihelp for your help and advice in this regard. It was invaluable. My advice to others is: Be calm and confident, look them in the eye and speak, know what you have written in the Application form and be truthful. Good luck!

Visa Refused
I really like to thank immihelp website for perfect guiding in my processing of visit visa. Today (13th Aug 2005) was my interview for visit visa but denied saying "No strong ties" I am 25 year old working as Marketing Coordinator in MNC of Saudi Arabia, applied for visit visa on my own sponsorship. Everything went fine and smooth until i reach to the counter.

Consular first asked me to give the application pay slip and it was my badluck that i left that recipt in my bag and came to the counter, i requested him that i will get but he refused to leave counter.

Next thing, I showed my all savings in NRE account of India around $18,000 but seeing that he said that if you are residing in Saudi Arabia than why you are saving in India.

I replied conviniently saying that i dont get profit of saving in Saudi Banks coz, Saudi banking system is against the interest according to Islamic Law.

He did not said anything more than that and said "you can reapply showing strong ties" Thank you.

Was consular query was true or not? Please advice.

I am going to apply again in 6 weeks transacting all my NRE account money in Saudi Arabia Bank.

Hope this should help me in getting my visa.

Regards,
Najam
