IN-LAWS B2 VISA AT HYDERABAD ON 29,30TH JANUARY
On Jan-29th they went to OFC for fingerprints. I made a mistake on the date of birth in DS-160 so they advised them to go to the nearest computer shop to correct the mistake. They took 200 RS and corrected it by creating a new DS160 and used that one in visa appointment.

Which means even though you can not make corrections in DS160 you can always create a new one and link it to the profile on CGIFEDERAL. If you have more than one member in that profile, you can send an email to customer care with appointment confirmation and they will update it on the profile.

On the day of interview, they went around 730 even though appointment is at 745. They let them in around 745.Waited inside for the turn.

VO: Why are you going to USA
Inlaws: My daughter is pregnant and she has some complications and doctor recommended bed rest for remainider of pregnancy. So we are going there to help my daughter.
VO: For how many months?
Inlaws: 4 months
VO:Is she your daughter?
Inlaws:Yes
VO: Is it her first pregnancy?
Inlaws: Yes
VO:What is her date of birth?
VO: My mother in laws gave the date and month correct but year wrong and she tried to refer to her chit sheet and VO advised her that you should not refer and say that.

B2 Visa - Chennai India-Visiting Girlfriend
The interview was a short one. Barely a couple of minutes long. Interview on the 29th of Jan 2018 at 9:45am. Reached the Consulate 1/2 hour early.
First there will be a biometric and passport check, followed by the interview itself.
The interview went as follows:

VO: Good Morning, can I have your passport?
Me: Handed over the passport

VO: I see you have been to France.
Me: Yes for a family vacation

VO: So what is your purpose of visit to the US?
Me: Going for a vacation.

VO: I see here that you are going to Los Angeles. How long do you intend to stay?
Me: 1 week( Showing my to and fro flight tickets- which she completely ignored)

VO: Why only for a week?
Me: I have a friend in the US, who is going to be showing me around for her spring break(which is a week long)

VO: Friend or a special friend( with a smile)?
Me: Let's just say a special friend

VO: Where does your "special friend"... can I just refer to her as your girlfriend ?
Me: Yes you can :)

VO: What does your girlfriend do?
Me: She is pursuing her masters in XYZ college in XYZ course.

VO: When does her course end?
Me: December 2018.

VO:Did she come back to India for her winter break in December?
Me: Yes she did for a couple of weeks.

VO: What do you do?
Me: I work for XYZ company

VO: How long have you been working for the company?
Me: 7 months

VO:What is your designation ?
Me: Graduate Engineer Trainee.

VO: Okay I am guessing you will want to visit her ,for her graduation in December as well?
Me: Yes definitely

VO: Thank you. Your visa has been approved. Have fun with your girl friend.
Me: Thank you will do. Have a great day.

In short just be honest. Everyone told me not to mention my girlfriend especially because I was still new at my job etc. But I thought it best to be blunt and honest and it worked out.

In-laws B2 Visitor visa rejected, need suggestions to reapply
Hi All,
My in-laws had the visa stamping interview on Jan 29,2018, which was rejected.

# Question to mother-in-law : What is your daughter's Date of birth? Answered incorrectly.
# Question to Father-in-law : Have you traveled anywhere before?
Aswered as following: Yes to IRAQ, then shown the expired passport which has IRAQ stamping, officer looked in to the passport and checked in the system then replied, we cannot approve your visa.

Thinking that having Iraq stamping was the reason for rejection, but not sure if the DOB incorrect is also the cause. Now i would like to reapply for my mother-in-law independently and later for father-in-law.

I know that we can apply immediately after 3 days but is it better if i reapply after a week or should i wait for 2-3 weeks.?

Require Help and Opinion on B2 visa reapplication
I had applied for B2 visa and had interview a week ago in Chennai, India. My Husband has B1 visa and has travelled to US multiple times. I wanted to visit him this time for 1 month duration, have vacation and return back. I was asked the below questions

1. What is your purpose of travel ?
A: Tourism

2. Why are you travelling to US?
A: I told them the above mentioned statement(My Husband has B1 visa and has travelled to US multiple times. I wanted to visit him this time for 1 month duration, have vacation return back.)

3. Where are you planning to stay?
A: Since my husband is staying in Company provided accommodation, I am staying with my friend 'xxx' in the address 'yyyy'.

4. Where do you work ?
A: Answered with my company name.

5. Where does your husband work?
A: Answered with his company name.

6. Who is sponsoring your trip?
A: Self Sponsor.

And after this my application was rejected with 214(b). Previously I have travelled to nearby Asian Countries as tourist and returned before the given time. I am working for an MNC with really good salary. I do have my home, family, job everything in India. But I did not tell this things because it was not asked. Also its mentioned in all Visa help sites not to answer more than required. Also was not asked to show any documents. So I am confused as where did I go wrong.

I am considering to apply again within next month, since i would like to visit him in March. No point if i apply later. But what are my chances, as nothing will actually change in my application.

Please help as I would actually love to visit US.

B1/B2 VISA Experience
Hello,

I recently appeared for visa interview at embassy, New Delhi along with my wife and 9.5 months old son. I am 29 years old govt employee working for more than 05 years with the organisation. I was carrying all the required documents (even those not required), have strong ties to my country, fair bank balance, and provided all the correct information during interview and also while filling DS-160 form. I am having close relative in US and filled the same in form also. Interview was scheduled at 1045 and they allowed us to enter exactly at 1045 only and we were out by 1220. Here is how my interview went:

VO(a lady): Good Afternoon
We: Good Afternoon
(handed over 03 passports)

VO: Why do you want to travel to US?
Me: For tourism and sightseeing

VO: Where will you travel?
Me: ZZZ

VO: Do you have any one in US?
Me: Yes My YYYY and YYY

VO: What is their status and what do they do?
Me: Told

VO: Who is going to sponsor your trip?
Me: Self Sponsor

VO: What do you do?
Me: I am YYYY in YYY
(then there were 3-4 questions about my profession)

VO: Are you working somewhere? (to my wife)
Wife: No

VO: OK, I am approving your VISA. You will get your passports in 4-5 working days.

Surprisingly, she didn’t ask for a single document from me. I was carrying two big files with chunks of documents. Infact, she didn’t even ask for NOC (No objection certificate) which is a must for any govt employee. No bank documents, no invitation letter nothing at all. Probably, it was our confidence and preparation which helped us through this. There are few points from side:

1. Fill your DS-160 with absolute attention. This website helped me a lot in understanding the experiences of other people. Unfortunately, I was not knowing about this website so couldn’t take this advantage. Whatever you write in the form should be correct and truth, hence you don’t need to remember anything. And once you have filled the form, just stick to it. Whatever you speak during the interview and filled in DS-160 should match (irrespective of truth).

2. Start preparation well in advance. I started preparing for my interview 01 month back. Your preparation should be specific to you, your job, your relatives in US(if incase one is there). I prepared everything about my relatives too ( like DOB, DOM, kids DOB e.t.c). You never know what they are going to ask in interview.

3. Prepare a list of probable questions. I prepared a list of probable questions and answers specific to me. Again this website helped a lot in the same. Prepare your answers in max 01 or 02 lines. We practiced and practiced and practiced. To our surprise all the questions asked to us were all prepared by us well in advance and hence more confident.

4. Prepare your documents well. Arrange your documents in the priority you think might be asked from you. Put flags in the corner, so that you can easily open the concerned page.

Guys it is all your preparation and confidence that will matter a lot. We got our visa even without showing a single document. I know it’s a bit of luck too but there is no harm in well preparation as it will give you confidence.

All the Best!

Question about short term course on B2 visa
Hi - My sister is visiting me in US on a B2 tourist visa this June- July for 2 months. She is 20 years old and is enrolled in a degree program at Delhi University. I want her to take some short courses during her time here that will not count as credits towards her degree but will give her an opportunity to experience American education system. I was wondering if someone can suggest if she should mention this during the interview to the VO.

It is totally legal to take courses for recreational purposes as long as the duration is less than 18 hours per week. However I am uncertain if this information will jeopardize her chances of getting a visitor visa.

Any help will be much appreciated.
