GC in hand. Overall duration - 10 months
Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the friends that shared their experiences. It really helped us understand the current status of USCIS processing times and interview experiences gave us some important insight.

Below is my timeline (Sorry I don't remember exact dates).
Married to US Citizen.

* Started the process of gathering documents in July. We leaned on the immigration lawyers at my employer and they asked for every possible legal piece of paper we ever had. It seemed like an overkill but we made sure we gave everything they asked for.
* Application filed in August end and Priority Date set for Sep 2020.
* No response till Dec 2020.
* First week of January 2021 got Biometrics appointment.
* Mid of January 2021 EAD and AP were approved and received by end of January 2021.
* Interview scheduled in late July 2021
* Card in mail 2 days later and received in the last day of July 2021.

Interview Experience.

Our interview was post lunch at SD Field office. we were in 15 mins early but it took a while (almost an hour) to get our name called. I would recommend you sit close to either of the doors (toward the bathrooms or the very back of the room) as it was difficult to figure out whose name were they calling. Our interviewer was a lady and super sweet and kind. She took us to a room and make us take the oath.
My binder was thick with supporting documentation and she was very happy with the way it was organized. She asked us if there was anything else we needed to submit and my wife, who is awesome started by sharing our photos. She had compiled photos in a beautiful album sharing our story chronologically. We used each page of the album to talk about how we met and how our relationship progressed. The interviewer took a few pictures along the way and I shared the original birth certificate and my employer verification details. The interview was 20 mins long and in the end she told use that we are 99.99% approved and I will be getting a Conditional Permanent Residency as our married duration is less than 2 years.

We both a working professionals and doing good at our work, stable financial status, no felony or parking tickets. I already had an I-140 approved USCIS probably had everything they wanted on me. So nothing great or bad about our profiles.

Finally, this forum helped me a lot but I feel it made me more anxious than I would normally have been. I have read some horror stories about interview experiences and even though most of them were not applicable to me, it just made me fearful.

I will you all best of luck and hope this helps.

California Service Center Processing Times
Just got a receipt notice for I-130 and it is saying my service center is California. Upon cheking USCIS processing time online, CSC has processing time almost 3 to 4 times of others. Is there anything we can do in this matter or just wait as it is not justify that cases at other service centers has considerably less processing time compared to others. It is injustice to cases whose service center is California.

Filing Affidavit of support for family immigrant when Permanent Resident is still under an affidavit of support himself?
Little confused— I see that Permanent Residents who have had the marriage-based conditions removed and now have received their 10 year green card can sponsor adult children thinking of immigrating to US. But how, if they themselves are still officially under the Affidavit of Support their US Citizen spouse filed for them? I.e., wouldn’t the wife have to sign onto the sponsorship, too? (Then she is on the hook for spouse— not a problem since working well but you never know— AND an adult son?? If anyone could speak to this situation, much appreciated— thank you

Unable to provide a document listed under INA Section 221(g), what is next?
Had my interview for F4 visa category. Document related to my and petitioner's late birth certification missing and unable to procure. Embassy here is insisting on only those documents mentioned in the 221(g) letter and are not ready to accept any alternative documents.

How do I circumvent this issue?

I130 - Where to add parents' birth certificate?
Hi Everyone,
I recently filed i130 for both of my parents living in India, however, I did not find any option to add their birth certificate anywhere on the form. Is it even required to add their birth certificate anywhere or was I just mistaken? I did add my birth certificate with both of their names listed on it. Please advise. Thanks!
