Passport Delivery Information for US Visa
Once your U.S. visa or Border Crossing Card (BCCC) has been approved, the passport will be returned to you through courier.

Please follow the procedure below for getting the passport delivered to you once your U.S. visa has been approved:
  • Your passport with the visa stamped in it will be ready after 3:00 PM the next business day of the interview.

  • Your passport will be delivered to the courier location that you specified at the time of taking an appointment or at any time before your consular interview. You can not make arrangements to be delivered to your home or office.

  • After the interview, visit ais.usvisa-info.com or ustraveldocs.com web site, log into your account for Airway Bill number and the status of the return of the documents.

  • The status can be any of the following:
    • No Package Available for Pickup
      Documents are not yet en route or available for pick up. Please check again at a later time. As the Consulate, at their sole discretion, takes the time to adjudicate an applicant's case, there is no way for anyone else to know when the documents will be turned over to courier.

    • In Transit
      Courier has picked up the applicant's documents from the Consulate.

    • Ready for Pick-up at Courier Location
      You can pick up the documents at the courier location that you had selected. If you don't claim them within 30 days of delivery to the selected courier location, they will be returned to the ASC.

    • Delivered
      The applicant has collected the documents at the selected courier location.

  • When the status is 'Ready for Pick-up at Courier Location', applicant(s) 18 years and older must visit in person along with the official identification to pick the documents. You may optionally bring the Waybill (AWB) number additionally.
    • Please bring any of the following as the official identification:
      For Mexico:
      • Mexican driver's license
      • Released military service card
      • Mexican Consular matriculation form
      • Mexican Passport, if picking up a laser visa, or
      • Photo Voter Registration ID (IFE card)

      If you can not provide any of the documents listed above for identification, you can bring your original birth certificate. DHL staff will also review the information from the passport with visa or laser visa to make sure the documents are being returned to the correct person.

  • Special situations:
    • If picking up the documents for a minor child, child's parents must prove their identity with one of the documents listed above along with the child's Original Birth Certificate, Adoption Certificate or a Personal Identification Card (CIP).

    • In case of visas for a group, group representative must prove their identity with one of the documents listed above.

    • In case a third party (non-applicant) would like pick up the document, he/she must provide their identity with one of the documents listed above, along with a letter of authorization signed by an applicant, as long as both of them are over the age of 18 years, and a copy of the applicant's official identification.

      In case of disabled applicants (age, illiterate or handicapped), a letter of authorization can be signed by the applicant with an "x" or fingerprint if he/she can't sign a name.

    • In case of Border Crossing Card (BCC), applicants will receive two Airway Bill Numbers, one for the return of the Passport and a second for the BCC. Passport will be returned first. The BCC will take at least two weeks to be issued.
