Passport requirements

The passport needs to be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory and needs to contain at least one empty page.
Passports that contain illegible data cannot be accepted.
Each person must have their own passport, even for minors.
No visas will be issued on additional pages of a passport.

FAQ

Q: I am not able to get the passport from my country of citizenship. I just have a "US Permit to reenter" (advance parole). Can I use advance parole to travel to Germany?

A: Advance parole can be accepted only if it is quite obvious that you can't get a national passport from your country of citizenship. Otherwise, you are expected to submit your national passport.
It may take up to 2 weeks to process the visa application in such situation.
