Review: Valuable goods were stolen from checked bags. 2 of my checked bags were damaged and gift items from them like Speakers, Bluetooth headsets were stolen. Qatar team was very irresponsible when i complained this. After discussing this incident with colleagues, got to know few more incidents. Even there was a queue at the counter who were reporting loss and damage of items. The team was also rude and just trying to get rid of people when they were approached for complaints. Avoid QATAR at all circumstances. Do not fall for offers/fancy discounts. I regret of having used there service. I got the compensation which was not even 40% of the losses that had to face.

Review: Horrible customer service. Qatar Airways damaged 3 of our bags when we traveled from Houston to Kuwait via Doha on 6th Oct 2017. I registered the complaint at Kuwait airport before leaving the airport. I was told that it will be settled in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks of silence, when I contacted them, I was told that no complaint was raised by me before leaving the airport and hence my claim has been denied. Qatar Airways lost my complaint and put that on me to deny my claim, even after repeated follow-ups. I also insisted on checking the Kuwait airport camera footage in front of damaged baggage office, which would clearly show that we registered the complaint before leaving the airport, but they did not do that. Qatar Airways is notorious in denying responsibility, neither accepting mistakes nor acting on good faith. My recommendation : avoid Qatar, and take Emirates or Etihad instead. Saptarshi Ballabh

Review: Their plane was broken. Fair enough, it happens. But Qatar Airways spent 6 hours after the scheduled departure time telling us that we'd be boarding soon. I rescheduled work commitments on the basis of their promised departure time. They then cancelled, and made us queue for over 3 hours for baggage, coaches and hotel. We got to hotel room at about midnight and were told to be at reception for collection at 7:30 for flight at 10:30. But no-one there at 7:30; instead a message (from the hotel staff) that we'd be collected at 10:00. I rescheduled my work commitments again. But nothing at 10:00 - instead a message that they'd update us at 14:30. The Qatar Airways staff were dismissive, disinterested or just plain abusive throughout. It was all incredibly badly managed and we were treated like dirt and given no reliable information at any point. Shortly before midday, I got on a coach to Heathrow and then spent over 4 hours queuing (no information and no seats - just a tiled floor to sit on). I eventually managed to get a re-booking with another airline and eventually arrived 29.5 hours late. I will never use this appallingly amateur and abusive company again.

Review: Out of all 4 legs of my travel in and out of India, this definitely has to be the worst one, primarily due to terrible inflight service, as described in detail. They kept on serving the same gassy food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made up of potato, kidney beans or chick peas. Really??? The flight attendants made this flight experience terrible. Every single flight attendant in this flight was Chinese (or Korean or some oriental). I have obviously nothing against any specific ethnicity but they were simply clue less in all aspects of service and extremely slow. I don't know if they were doing this deliberately or they were simply dumb. I know that the flight attendants of various ethnicity work in a large airline but there is usually a mix of various types of flight attendants. How did they end up with ALL Chinese when I didn't see a single Chinese passenger in flight? As I had to be awake most of the night to catch AMD-DOH flight, I was obviously feeling very sleepy and wanted the food ASAP after reaching the cruising altitude. However, they brought the food almost 1.5 hours after they started serving others. She gave me the excuse that I had ordered a special food and it takes time to heat it. Of course, I am not the first such person in Qatar airways and obviously not the only one in flight with AVML request. However, she was behaving as if I was alien from Mars or something. And of course, it does not take that long to heat one person's food, considering you have few hundred people in the same flight. When I got the food finally, I was not given any spoon to eat rice and daal with. First, they should be trained to give that to begin with. If not, they should ask whether I need one. However, even after asking for one, she brought it to me after around 20 minutes, and by the time, I had of course finished eating. I asked whether I was going to get any bread with the meal. Of course, bread in AVML means chapati, roti, paratha, naan etc. However, she brought me one round and hard bread and when asked about it, she said that is what the bread means to her. When I asked for Indian bread, she said she does not know if catering provided one or not. In any case, she came with some paratha type bread around half an hour later AFTER she already picked up my plate and cleaned up the table. Seriously? Now what am I supposed to eat that with? She said she does not know how we eat that. I seriously believe that has to be deliberate. I can't imagine someone being so ignorant. Later, some button got accidentally pressed and the massager in the chair stared automatically which I could not figure out initially how to switch it off. When I pressed the flight attendant button, someone showed up after 1.5 hours, yes, 1.5 hours to ask what I needed. Obviously, by then, I had somehow figured out how to switch it off. In all this drama, I wasted at least 3 hours of sleep in the beginning of the flight that I could have had to take rest during the flight. Finally, I went to sleep and had a good sleep as the seats themselves are excellent. After I got up, a supervisor (Korean) of that flight attendant came to me as I had complained earlier to another supervisor who was economy class supervisor, because business class supervisor had gone to sleep and to take rest. She told me that their flight attendants are trained to serve food with fork and knife and they are simply following company policy. People need knife to cut meat (which I don't eat) and that is fine but at least get a spoon when asked for. She said that they are just following company procedure, which apparently seems to ignore passenger preference. When asked about the repeated gassy food, she said that is what the catering provided and I understand that flight attendant can't do anything about it. When I asked why the flight attendant came 1.5 hours after I pressed the button, she said that they are very busy. How busy and understaffed can they possibly be that they can't attend business class passenger for that long, for something that requires prompt attention? Basically, she was clueless too and she asked me to write the feedback on Qatar airways web site.

Review: Check in process was smooth. Unlike other airports in India, there was no airline staff outside the airport to help and guide the business class passengers. However, it seems that it is not the fault of Qatar airways. Ahmadabad airport itself has no concept of business class in any respect. Please see my airport review separately. The airport lounge was common to all the airlines. Luckily, it was not crowded at all. In fact, there were hardly any business class passengers at all. Qatar Airways had only my family plus one another passenger. Emirates and Eithad that leave around the same time had a similar situation, may be 3-4 passengers at the most in each airline. (If Modi's Gujarat development model had really been working as advertised, there would be a lot more business travelers flying in and out of Ahmedabad, Hmm!!) Choice of hot or cold towels were offered. Once reaching cruising altitude, a meal was served, again the same thing. Chick peas, rice and dal. As I had to be awake almost an entire night, I went to sleep as fast as I could and woke up just before landing in Doha, Qatar.

Review: After reaching Doha, Qatar, I freshened up in business class lounge. However, it was a temporary lounge which had separate shower and toilet which was kind of inconvenient. Unlike other flights, most of the India bound flights departed from the ground level and had no aerobridge. That means, I had to wait for the bus. However, the nice thing was that they had a separate bus for business class which had nice plush seats, like sofa seats. One thing worth noticing was they boarded the business class passengers that last (after economy class), which is kind of unusual. But it turned to be just fine, as it is better to wait in the airport, than in the plane. The food they served was really the same that was served in DFW-DOH flight, full of gassy food such as potato and kidney beans which is really a bad idea on flights. This flight also had the noise cancellation headphones. Due to short distance of the flight (around 3.5 hours), the business class was small (12 seats), as expected but it was full. Of course, the seats are recliners, as expected in short haul flights, unlike the long haul flights that have full flat seats. I was able to sleep for around 1.5 hours excluding take off, taxi, landing and dinner/breakfast, which is still good. Overall, good experience.

Review: Qatar airways just started flying from Dallas on Jul 1 and I flew them on July 2. At check in counter, there were a lot of different staff members that came from different parts of the country to start the operations. There were still glitches as they tried to coordinate with one another and tried to figure out what to do. The person at the check in counter was not aware of kind of visas or other travel documents that the person can have to travel to India. Obviously, he was not aware of what PIO card was and asked for India visa which PIO card holders don't need. The lounge at the airport was as expected, just like all other lounges at DFW international airport. Nothing special or different about it. It seemed that most of the people flying Qatar were going to India and using Doha, Qatar just as stop over. Business class was full. Of course they gave the amenity kit, and served the choice of juice or champagne. All the business class seats had noise cancellation headphones which was nice. Soon after we boarded the flight and it was at the cruising altitude, they served food. After dinner, I went to sleep and had a comfortable 8-9 hours flight. As expected, the seat reclined completely and became full flat bed. They gave the pajamas to change into which was nice. After getting up, the toilet had the brush, shaving kit, comb etc. After getting freshened up, I watched a movie and had breakfast. Soon after that, we landed in Doha, Qatar.
